What’s all this?
We are a bunch of people who want to see feminist activism on the streets of Huddersfield, whether that’s campaigning and awareness-raising, promoting women in unequal fields, supporting each other to challenge sexism head on, or just getting together to share information and issues.
We got together in June 2010 with the aim of challenging gender norms and inequalities in all sorts of ways, depending on what different members want to do. Some of us are into campaigning, some want a space to talk, others want to organise events… and we’re making space for all of these things and more.
The thing that unites us is a recognition that gender inequality is an issue that affects everyone, and a respect for the diverse opinions that exist within feminism.
For more information please take a look at our constitution. Please note this is no substitute for our ethos, our beliefs about what feminism is and is not, or our policy of inclusion, however it does give a basic explanation of how we are structured.
Step up!
If you’re interested in gender equality and wish there was an active feminist group in this town, drop us a line, or come along to our next meeting.
Just to be clear – we are a feminist group not a ‘women’s group’, and all are welcome to join us.
